An 18-year-old male presented after a bike accident with a unilateral parasymphysis fracture of the mandible and visible extraoral bruises. He experienced difficulty in speaking and discomfort during jaw movement.

Diagnosis

Fracture Type: Unilateral mandibular parasymphysis fracture

Extraoral Findings: Bruising over chin region

Intraoral Findings: Displacement at fracture site

Treatment Plan

1. Initial Stabilization

Intermaxillary fixation (IMF) to temporarily immobilize the fracture.

2. Definitive Surgery

Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with miniplate at fracture site.

Surgical Procedure

1. Preparation: Face cleaned with Betadine antiseptic.

2. Anaesthesia: Local anaesthesia administered for painless surgery.

3. Access: Surgical flap raised to expose the fracture line.

4. Fixation: Fracture reduced and stabilized using titanium plate & screws.

5. Closure: Surgical site sutured.
